If you are unhappy with your smile because your teeth are out of alignment, Invisalign might be the perfect solution. Invisalign treatment can offer many of the same benefits of traditional braces, but without the “face full of metal” that goes along with traditional orthodontia. Whether you are a teenager gearing up for a year of senior pictures and prom, or an employee who doesn’t want to vie for a promotion with shiny silver on your teeth, Invisalign can help you achieve your goal of a straighter smile, without many of the discomforts – and embarrassments – of traditional braces.
How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign Treatment relies on a series of clear, plastic aligner trays, rather than metal brackets, to slowly reposition your teeth. By changing out the custom-made trays every two weeks, or so, you will be able to shift your teeth gradually, and with minimal discomfort.
Plus, though the trays need to be worn most of the day (between 20 and 22 hours), you can take them out to eat, meaning no more worrying about getting popcorn or broccoli stuck in your braces. This also means no foods are forbidden, although your dentist always recommends a well-balanced diet in nutrient rich foods, and limited sugar, for the best oral health.
How long will treatment take?
The exact length of time it will take to complete orthodontic treatment is dependent on your teeth’s current position, but treatment length is generally similar to that of traditional braces, sometimes faster. During a consultation, your dentist can give you a better idea just how long it will take.
