Imperfect Teeth in TInseltown (And How to Fix Them!)

Sometimes it’s easy to forget that celebrities have an entire team of makeup artists, stylists, and plastic surgeons to help them look beautiful. The vast majority certainly aren’t born with perfect smiles, says Dr. Todd Pizzi, a cosmetic dentist in Shrewsbury, MA. You may never walk the red carpet, but this doesn’t mean you can’t have a smile worthy of the A-list.

Dental bonding and porcelain veneers are the two most popular cosmetic treatments for closing gaps. Bonding, which uses composite resin to fill gaps, is the more economical option and can be completed in just one visit to our office. Veneers, which are made of porcelain, initially require a few visits to take impressions, measure your teeth, and finally place. Both can be created in virtually any shade, so there’s no discernible difference. However, porcelain has a slightly translucent quality that is very similar to natural, healthy tooth enamel; it’s also more resistant to unsightly stains.

Crooked Teeth

Few people are born with perfectly straight teeth, and the A-list is no exception. You don’t see a lot of metal braces in Hollywood, so why is it that stars’ teeth are so beautifully aligned? Thank invisible braces, says Dr. Pizzi. ClearCorrect and Invisalign straighten teeth using clear, plastic aligners that fit over the teeth and are practically invisible during use. There are no wires, brackets, or rubber bands, and treatment time is abbreviated from the average two-year treatment for regular metal braces. Other celebrities opt for Six Month Smiles. This system is similar to traditional braces, but it uses tooth-colored wires and brackets. Again, treatment time is notably reduced. Other stars, such as actors Tom Hardy and Vanessa Paradis, have vowed never to alter the appearance of their teeth with orthodontic treatment.
