Do you look at your teeth and see several imperfections? Maybe they are too dark, too short, and one of your teeth has a chip. Regardless of the imperfections, whether craze lines, pits, discoloration, etc., if you have more than one, dental veneers may serve you well. Dental veneers can fix a variety of dental defects with a single treatment.
What are Veneers
Veneers are ultra-thin ceramic porcelain or composite resin shells that are bonded to the front of your tooth or teeth. They are a permanent treatment that can transform your smile and, with proper care, last a lifetime.
How They are Placed
The first step in veneer treatment is to remove the tiniest bit of tooth enamel from the front of your teeth to accommodate the thickness of the veneer, so the veneer sits flush with the surrounding dentition. Impressions are then taken of your prepared teeth and sent to a trusted dental lab where a master ceramicist will fabricate custom veneers to match the size and shape of your tooth, as well as the color. Veneer treatment requires two visits. The first to prepare and take impressions of your teeth, and the second to place the new veneers. It usually takes the dental lab about two weeks to craft your veneers. When your veneers are ready, you will attend your second visit during which your dentist will permanently bond the veneers to your teeth for a renewed smile.
