Common Questions About Porcelain Veneers

If you wish your smile were brighter, straighter, and more uniform in appearance, then porcelain veneers can likely help you create the smile you desire. When it comes to cosmetic improvement, porcelain veneers are among the most popular solutions, particularly for patients with stubborn and/or multiple smile issues to contend with. Despite their popularity, however, many people who could benefit most from the enhancements do not realize the benefits that veneers could offer. To help you improve your smile, and your confidence, we answer a few of the more common questions about porcelain veneers.

Info About Porcelain Veneers

How lifelike do veneers look?

Porcelain veneers are thin shells of ceramic designed to closely mimic your natural, blemish-free tooth structure. Each veneer is crafted by hand according to precise measurements of your teeth. Once they’ve been expertly placed, your veneers will not only fix your smile’s blemishes, but do so in a seamless, natural-looking manner.

What are veneers used to correct?

Veneers are designed to be bonded to and conceal the front surfaces of your teeth, making them ideal for correcting teeth stains, chipped edges, odd spaces, slight misalignment, and a host of other cosmetic issues. Since each veneer is made individually, they can also be used to correct a single tooth or multiple teeth, depending on your exact needs.

Are porcelain veneers permanent?

To place a veneer on your tooth, we first prepare the tooth by sculpting a small (less than 05.mm) amount of enamel from its surface. The modification allows the veneer to sit comfortably without the distorting the contours of your smile. However, since your teeth can’t grow back the enamel that must be sculpted, the preparation needed is permanent, and you will need to maintain your veneers to keep your smile beautiful.
